62 Annual Cannes Film Festival - Agora staring Rachel WeiszThe 62 Annual Cannes Film Festival included a new film staring Rachel Weisz called Agora. Directed by Alejandro Amenabar, Agora is set in fourth century Egypt which at that time is under the dominion of the Roman Empire. The climate of the times
includes violent religous strife and in the middle of this with her own personal intrigue is Hypatia, played by Rachel Weisz, with two men fighting for her heart. Orestes, played by Oscar Isaac, is a
man of status while Davus - played by Max Minghella is Hypatia's slave. This looks like an interesting period film full of love and political intrigue. Add into the mix two men, one of privledge and
the other with seemingly impossible odds against him and you may have a film that runs against some of the recycled films that seem to be popular these days.To see more about Agora you can find out
more info at the Canne Film Festival website. You will be able to see interviews with the films
stars including Rachel Weisz and the cast's discussion on this movie, Agora. |
