It just suggests eating different ones. You need to do your research and read the book before trying The Zone Diet, but the gist of it is: 1. Eat a small amount of protein at every single meal. The size of the protein should be approximately the size of your palm. Also eat a protein for your snack and for a snack in the late evening. 2. Eat "good" carbohydrates twice the size of your protein portions. This includes most vegetables, beans, whole grains, lentils, and most fruits. 3. Eat very small amounts of "other" carbohydrates which include brown rice, pasta, papaya, mango, banana, dry breakfast cereal, bread, bagel, tortilla,carrots, and all fruit juices. times/week.
